What made you consider nursing as a program of study?

I want to be a nurse because I saw firsthand how nurses saved my mom’s life when she was pregnant with my youngest sister. Her blood pressure rose to over 200/120, and the nurses acted quickly and stayed by her side through labor and postpartum care. If it wasn’t for them, my mom might not be here today. Watching their compassion and dedication inspired me to become a nurse.

What does the Pledge Ceremony mean to you?

The Pledge Ceremony represents an important step in my journey. It symbolizes my commitment to nursing and to becoming the best nurse I can be. It’s a chance for me to start creating my own path and discovering what kind of nurse I want to be.

Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?

I chose WVU because it offers strong hands-on learning and early clinical experience through their connection with Ruby Memorial Hospital. These opportunities will help me gain confidence and skill while also exploring different specialties during nursing school.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to work in labor and delivery. I hope to give other families the same care and positive experience my mom received. I want to support mothers and babies during one of the most important moments of their lives.
