Why do you want to be a nurse?

I’ve desired a career in healthcare for as long as I can remember. The opportunity to help people and save lives has always been the biggest motivator for me in that regard. Following undergrad, I struggled with finding the right place in healthcare for me. Through talks with my friends who are nurses and my mentors in healthcare I found that the hands-on, fast paced, and rewarding aspects of nursing care fit very well with what I desire in a healthcare career.

Why did you choose WVU School of Nursing?

I attended WVU at the Morgantown campus for my first undergraduate degree in biology and really enjoyed the experience. I have multiple friends who have completed either the traditional or accelerated BSN programs through WVU, and they all had great things to say about both programs. There have also been many others, who have told me about WVU providing the gold standard for nursing education in WV. The opportunity to attend the ABSN program in my hometown seemed like the perfect match for me.

What’s the best part of the program so far?

The people have easily been the best part of the program up to this point. Both the faculty and my fellow students have made the experience nothing short of amazing. The support, kindness, and sense of solidarity among the group have made the process of learning both effective and enjoyable.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

I hope to begin working in the ICU then eventually further my nursing career by transitioning into the role of an advanced practice nurse as either a CRNA or NP.

Anything else you’d like to add.

I wouldn’t have made it this far without the help of my family, who have always supported me in all my endeavors. My grandparents have made everything I’ve ever wanted to do possible and I’m so thankful for this opportunity to make them proud.
