December Commencement

The School of Nursing invites all students graduating in August 2025 and December 2025 to participate in the December 20, 2025 Commencement Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. at the WVU Coliseum. 

Please visit the WVU December Commencement page for additional information and to complete the online registration form to register to walk in Commencement. *Please note that the online registration form will go live on the WVU December Commencement website after the application to graduate closes.

  • Tickets are not required for Commencement. 
  • Free parking is available at the Coliseum and the Canady Creative Arts Center. There will be parking staff and University Police officers stationed to help direct you to the nearest parking area. 
  • Graduates should check-in at the Basketball Practice Facility 60 minutes prior to the ceremony time. No one other than the graduate will be permitted into the check-in area.
  • Graduates are required to wear caps and gowns. Please see ordering instructions and deadlines under Regalia Information below.
  • All graduates who have earned hoods will be hooded. Hoods will be carried in, draped over the left arm. Hooders should process in and sit with the graduate they are hooding. Faculty are required to wear regalia to participate.
  • All Traditional BSN and Accelerated BSN students will be pinned.
  • Latin honor cords will be distributed by individual colleges prior to graduation day.
  • Each ceremony will last approximately two hours.
  • Graduates needing accessibility services should contact their accessibility specialist.
  • Graduates who were approved to graduate in August and December 2025 will have their names printed in the program.
  • Programs will only be available online by scanning the QR code, which will be displayed at the venues during Commencement Ceremonies, or online at https://graduation.wvu.edu/.
  • Diplomas will be mailed after all grades are finalized and certified by the WVU Office of the Registrar. 
  • WVU has contracted with GradImages to provide quality graduation photos of each student. Proofs will be emailed to the student within 48 hours of the ceremony.

Regalia Information

All participants are required to wear regalia (cap, gown, and tassel, as well as hoods for Graduate students) at Commencement. 

  • You can purchase regalia in one of the following ways:
    • Online from Herff Jones 
      • Pick up at HSC Bookstore order deadline is Sunday, October 26, 2025
      • Ship to home order deadline is Sunday, November 23, 2025
    • In person at the WVU Bookstore.

Clear Bag Policy

To provide a safer environment for guests and to ease entry into event venues, a Clear Bag Policy will be implemented for all commencement ceremonies.

WVU’s Clear Bag Policy limits the size and type of bags that guests may bring into an event venue.
