Thanks to the generosity of 120 gifts during WVU Day of Giving 2025, the WVU School of Nursing raised more than $1.3 million — the seventh largest total of any department across the WVU system.

Making a difference while serving her country: Senior nursing student to join U.S. Navy after graduation
Victoria Weser, a senior at the WVU School of Nursing, always knew she wanted to help people, but college wasn’t initially part of her plan. “The plan was to become an EMT or a 911 operator,” said Weser, of Wexford, Pennsylvania. “My godmother has been a nurse for 40-plus years, and she asked, ‘Why don’t you give it a shot?’”

The WVU School of Nursing hosted two interactive booths March 5 at the West Virginia Capitol, inviting WVU Day at the Legislature attendees to learn how to locate a heartbeat on the Student Auscultation Manikin (SAM) and to get some puppy love from Molly, the Beckley Campus therapy dog.
