WVU School of Nursing departments team up to offer comfort, kindness to elderly residents
During the 2025 holiday season, the Office of Research and the Office of Community Engagement at the WVU School of Nursing partnered to bring comfort and kindness to elderly residents across West Virginia. In an effort that blended scholarship, compassion and creativity, the teams assembled customized care packages filled with practical items and warm messages of support for older adults. The effort was led by Dr. Ubolrat “Diu” Piamjariyakul, Associate Dean for Research, and Dr. Angel Smothers, Associate Dean for Community Engagement.
WVU School of Nursing partners with Johns Hopkins University to expand community nursing opportunities for students
West Virginia University will soon offer nursing students a new pathway for focusing on community nursing, allowing them to make a difference outside the hospital setting by improving access to care and promoting wellness in schools, homes, health departments and elsewhere.
LPN to BSN Virtual Open House set for Feb. 12
The WVU School of Nursing will host an LPN to BSN Virtual Open House on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, for licensed practical nurses who are intersted in taking their nursing career to the next level.
