Faculty, graduates and students of the West Virginia University School of Nursing have been named to the Future of Nursing West Virginia’s (FONWV) “40 Under 40” which recognizes future nurse leaders in West Virginia.
Faculty named to the list include: Dr. Kendra Barker, Dr. Emily Barnes, Kelly Morton, Hillary Parcell, Mark Smith and Angel Smothers. In all, 20 faculty, alumni and students of the School of Nursing were honored with this recognition.
“Leadership is critical in addressing our state’s most pressing healthcare issues and delivering quality patient care. It is great to see our faculty, graduates and current students, who make up half of this list of honorees, recognized for their passion and commitment to the profession. Congratulations to all of the recipients on this deserving honor. The future of nursing in West Virginia is in great hands with these men and women at the helm,” said Dean Tara Hulsey, School of Nursing.
In addition to School of Nursing faculty, students and alumni named to the list include: Kat Deremer, Emily Galeota, Heather Higgins, Leah Knaggs, Kelly Lemon, Amy Litwinovich, Stephanie Malone, Mary Arose Mitchell, Jodie Rose, Lindsay Skaff, Emily Starks, Krystal Tawney, Heather Glasko Tully and Melisa Watson.
The Future of Nursing WV is an action coalition charged with transforming healthcare through nursing by implementing the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing report. The organization is led by the West Virginia Nurses Association, West Virginia Hospital Association and West Virginia Organization of Nurse Executives.
Honorees will be recognized during FONWV’s gala on August 19, 2017.
