Outstanding Graduate Student and Mentor awards ceremony

On April 8, 2016, the Office of Research and Graduate Education recognized the achievements and participation of our graduate students in the research, teaching and service missions of the Health Science Center.  As part of this ceremony, awards were given to faculty who are outstanding mentors and to graduate students who are outstanding in their graduate programs.

Spring Student Forum

The Spring student forum will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 12 p.m. in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. This is your chance to ask questions and share comments or concerns with Vice President and Executive Dean Clay Marsh. University Police will also discuss the safety benefits of the free mobile app “LiveSafe.” Clay will also discuss new initiatives on the Health Sciences campus to reduce our energy footprint and become a more sustainable learning environment. Bag lunches will be available to bring into the auditorium! 

WVCTSI unveils Project ECHO

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Earlier today the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute held a kickoff event to showcase the upcoming Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) in West Virginia. This program will utilize multipoint video conferencing to address hepatitis C cases that have risen steadily in recent years in West Virginia largely due to the increase in intravenous drug use.

'Connect With Clay' to discuss 'State of the Health Sciences'

In his next “Connect with Clay” open forum, Vice President and Executive Dean Clay Marsh will address the terrific year we’ve had at Health Sciences, while also looking forward to the big changes and challenges ahead. He will also reinforce our commitment to West Virginia’s health challenges, including opioid addiction, obesity, and elderly care. He will also discuss upcoming changes to improve the learning and working environment on our campus. This session will be broadcast live to all campuses and will be held in Room 1905 Health Sciences South on Tuesday, April 19 at 12 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. All are encouraged to attend.

Noted researcher and academic leader to present WVU School of Nursing’s Kandzari Lecture

The WVU School of Nursing welcomes a well-known, respected researcher and nursing leader to present the Judy C. Kandzari Memorial Lectureship on Friday, April 15, 2016, in Fukushima Auditorium at the WVU Health Sciences Center, beginning at 7 p.m. The School will also honor academic achievements of student scholars, as well as recognize students, faculty and community leaders with induction into Sigma Theta Tau International – Alpha Rho Chapter nursing honorary immediately following the lecture.

As part of our mission, the Education and Training Core of the West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center would like to recognize excellence in teaching injury and violence prevention among our faculty as well as excellence in injury and violence research among our students.  To that end, we are opening nominations for three different awards, each described below.
