Paving Her Path into Leadership

Paving Her Path into Leadership
Melinda Kidder
RN to BSN, 2008

What set WVU School of Nursing apart from other colleges for you?

I’m a native West Virginian. For me, there was no other option besides WVU. I’m a true Mountaineer.

Could you share a positive experience from your time at the SON?

The flexibility with completing my BSN online worked so well with working as an RN full-time. The instructors were very easy to work with and complete the needed assignments.

What's one piece of advice you would give your younger self about your educational path?

Keep on going! While there will be hurdles, you can always overcome them.

How has your SON education helped you in your career?

I am so appreciative that I had the opportunity to complete my BSN at WVU! I love telling people I’m a WVU graduate. I was able to use this degree to continue on into nursing leadership and attain career goals that I thought could only be in my dreams.
