RN to Bachelor of Science
Our online RN to BSN program offers licensed registered nurses who are graduates of diploma and associate degree nursing programs the opportunity to complete requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN).
The RN-BSN program is designed for completion in as little as three semesters of study once all general education requirements are completed. All nursing courses are offered as web courses and a total of 28 credits of nursing coursework via enrollment are required to complete the RN-BSN program.
*The School offers in-state tuition for all students enrolled in the RN-BSN program, regardless of residency.
RN-BSN Progression Plans
Depending on if you enter the RN-BSN program as a full- or part-time student, the progression plan will vary. Please view the progression plans listed on page 11 of our Student Handbook.
Community Service Guidelines and Report Form
Community service is required of all Health Sciences students, including part- and full-time undergraduate students. It is expected that a minimum of 25 hours will be completed during a student's rural health experience but only the community service, not the clinical or research activities, will count toward meeting requirements.
For a list of examples, acceptable organizations and other information, view the Community Service Guidelines.
International Student Admission to RN-BSN Program
Minimum Computer Requirements
All nursing course work is offered online via SOLE. All courses are offered in an "asynchronous" format; i.e., students need not attend coursework at a particular time of day. Basic computer skills are required of all students, and access to adequate computing equipment is required. Please view WVU's Recommendations for minimum computer requirements.
All students in the University have access to email, STAR and other programs vial the WVU Portal. You must use this email system for RN to BSN coursework. No other email addresses will be used by faculty to contact you or to notify you of course related or program related information. You can access MIX from any computer where you have internet access.
The MIX homepage has a great tutorial that you may want to complete before your classes begin. Use MIX to your best advantage during your program!
Our Student Services staff will be glad to answer your questions in person or by phone/e-mail. Please fill out the information request form via WVU Online and someone will be in touch.
