Nursing professionals are invited to attend a "Lunch and Learn" continuing education session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 1, in the John Jones Conference Center, located on the ground floor of the Health Sciences Center. The event will focus on mental health conditions of veterans and their families.
WVU School of Nursing Clinical Assistant Professor Sandra "Sam" Cotton, D.N.P., R.N., will discuss issues such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mental health screening, health assessment and other veteran-specific information to assist nurses in understanding mental health conditions common to veterans and their family members.
The lunch and learn is hosted by WVU School of Nursing’s Alpha Rho Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau. The continuing education session has been approved for two contact hours and will satisfy requirements for West Virginia Board of R.N. Licensure for 2015.
